Procedures - Face
The face you see in the mirror every morning is a vital part of your identity. It’s the first impression you make on strangers. And, it’s one of the first places where the subtle signs of aging are recorded in fine lines and sagging skin. Facelifts range in size from “mini” to “standard” depending on location and extent of skin laxity. Facelifts can be done alone, or performed in conjunction with another procedure such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping.
A facelift can considerably reduce signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening the underlying muscles, and redraping the skin around the neck and face. If your problem areas are limited to the neck, a more conservative procedure, known as a "necklift" will be recommended.

A forehead lift or "browlift" is used to correct a drooping browline (eyebrow area) reducing the horizontal lines, and furrows (worry lines) that often make a person appear angry, sad or tired. The procedure creates a refreshed, youthful appearance to the forehead area above the eyes.
When performing a forehead lift procedure, muscles and tissue areas that droop or cause creases are removed or corrected to smooth the skin on the forehead to reduce frown lines and raise the eyebrows. There are two surgical methods, and during your initial consultation the procedure that works best for you will be recommended. The first is the most conventional method where a surgical incision is hidden just above the hairline. Browlifts are also performed using an endoscope which enables the procedure to be performed with a minimal number of incisions. While the traditional method can sometimes attain more lift, both methods create smoother, flatter skin on the forehead.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Your eyes make an instant statement about your personality, your age, and the condition of your health. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is designed to remove excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. The procedure can correct drooping upper lids that tend to sag with time and the puffy bags below the eyes. Blepharoplasty can be done as a single procedure, or in conjunction with other facial surgery such as a facelift or a browlift.

Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)
The nose is the most prominent feature of the human face. For many people, it is simply a part of their good looks and rarely merits a second thought. Dr. Filstein's forte is providing you with a "very natural look."
Incisions are made inside the nostrils. The nasal bones, cartilage and soft tissues are reshaped to improve the external contour. Large nostrils may be reduced through tiny incisions at the outer base of the nostrils with either type of rhinoplasty.

Cheekbones are enhanced by a small implant that sits on the prominence of the existing cheekbone, referred to as the malar eminence. The implant is inserted through an incision in the mouth, or through an incision in the lower eyelid, brow, or in front of the ear. The incision used depends on your particular needs and other surgery that may be performed at the same time, such as an eyelid lift.
Surgery on the chin is done through an incision inside the mouth, or underneath the chin in an existing skin crease. Through this incision, the chin is approached. The projection of the chin is most commonly altered through the use of an implant, but it may also be changed by cutting the chin bone and shifting its position. The incisions are then closed and a small elastic dressing is applied. If the posterior portion of the jaw needs to be altered, this also is approached through an incision inside the mouth.

An aging neck line is the first obvious sign of growing older. The necklift is used to treat laxity in the neck and submental area. It is especially helpful in treating the turkey gobbler neck and the deep cords or unsightly bands which often form in the neck.
A necklift involves tightening the neck's muscles and removing the excess fat. Interestingly, many people have poorly defined necklines from childhood, and decide to have a correction of this before they need a full facelift for signs of aging.
